San Roque Carnival

Carnival comes to San Roque this Saturday, 20th and Sunday, 21st February with activities centred on the marquee set up in the Alameda Alfonso XI park in the town centre.

 

At 12 noon the children's festival will begin, with the Comedy Parade commencing at 6 pm. The parade, which begins at Parque de Cuatro Vientos, then passes along Calle General Lacy, Plaza de Andalucía finally ending up at the marquee at the Alameda. The parade features comedy groups, fancy dress, bands, floats, etc.

 

After the parade, there will be a fancy dress contest with various cash prizes for individuals, pairs and groups, followed by a costume ball beginning at 11 pm.

On Sunday, 21st February the festivities continue at 1 pm with a giant paella followed by performances by a number of carnival groups.

Guadiaro also celebrates Carnival on Saturday, 20th February, from 1 pm in the Gloria Fuertes school. Participants can enjoy the 'Tagarniná Popular' soup followed by a performance by the Tesorillo chirigota “Por la gloria de mi padre este año nos salimos” and the Algeciras comparsa “Menudos Bibliotecarios”.

From 6 pm there will be a parade through the streets of Guadiaro along Calles Possada, Carretera and Avenida Tierno Galván, finishing at the school where there will be a children's fancy dress contest. From 10 pm it is the turn of the adults fancy dress competition and music.

Along with the Himno de Andalucía (Andalucía Anthem) they will perform a varied choral repertoire.

American Halloween - Hollywood style

Everyone joined in the fun as the Estepona/Sotogrande Chapter of The American Club Costa Del Sol enjoyed American Halloween - Hollywood Style. Some 50 Members came in fancy dress as Hollywood Stars of Past & Present.  The venue was filled to capacity by Members & Guests who came from near and far to enjoy welcoming cava, glamorous "Hollywood" company, delicous food, & Alberto's music that kept us dancing through the night.
