Gibraltar Boat Show

The organisers of this year's II Gibraltar Boat Show aim to build on the success of last year's event with an expanded programme of events across the four days from Thursday, 8th to Sunday, 11th April.
Centred on Gibraltar's Ocean Village marina complex visitors will be able to enjoy a wide range of entertainment, activities, displays and demonstrations along with the stylish vessels from the exhibitors.
Below is the provisional programme for the event:

Events

Yacht zone

Luxury Yacht Viewings
A chance to see some of the stylish models from Sunseeker, Ferretti, Cranchi, Fairline, Princess, Dominator plus others.  Many boats available to buy straight away at the Show.

VIP Champagne Bar
An exclusive Champagne Bar to allow our VIPS to relax away from the main activities of the Show and maybe even toast a superb deal on a new yacht.

Water zone
Canoeing

Diving – ‘Try Dives’ will be available for all ages within the main swimming pool at Ocean Village.

Displays

The Royal Navy’s Gibraltar Squadron will be showing their main 16m Patrol launch.

HM Customs will be displaying HMC Sentinel - a 9.2m RedBay Marine Rigid-hulled Inflatable Boat – and show how they combat drugs around Gibraltar.

The Royal Gibraltar Police Marine Section will be displaying their 12m Narwhal Fast Dynamic semi rigid capable of reaching speeds up to 55knots.

24m ‘Fire Tug Anna’ demonstration plus competition to win the chance to be a ‘fireman of the sea’

Product Launches

Torqeedo

Visits

Ferrari Club
The Ferrari Owners Club of Andalucia will be cruising their way into the Show on Sunday.

Motor Zone

Mercedes will be showcasing some of their newest models at the Show including the £110,000 S63 AMG and giving more details on the launch of the new flagship SLS - dubbed ‘2010 Car of the Year’ by the Robb Report.

Over a dozen models will be on display from the Gibraltar Classic Vehicle Association from a vintage 1925 Morris Cowley with its signature bullnose radiator to a 1986 Guy Salmon Jubilee Special Jaguar XJS convertible (one of only three ever built).

Seminars

Information Exchange Workshops on Shore Fishing in Gibraltar delivered by Charlie  Carreras and Dario Neal, two of Gibraltar’s top international anglers.  Saturday 11am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 3.30pm.

Underwater Gibraltar - a talk by Dr Darren Fa and Phil (Smudge) Smith, authors of a book concerning dive sites, wrecks and marine life in Gibraltar’s waters.  Saturday 4pm to 5.30pm.  
Music, Dance and Fashion Zone

During each of the four days, the two Show Stages will host performances by many of the best local artists and groups including Urban Dance Group, singer Jessie Aguilera and Transitions Dance Group as well as fashion shows from Esprit, Aftershock and other boutiques.

Thursday 8 April - 6pm-8pm A ‘Night at The Opera’ with Donna Marie Hughes (Ticketed).  A two hour journey through the popular classic opera songs by one of the most exciting UK Opera performers, Donna Marie Hughes, recently shortlisted for the "BBC Radio 2 Dame Kiri Te Kanawa Opera Competition"

Friday 9 April - 6pm-8pm ‘Class of 2010’ (Ticketed).  Re-live your favourite movie moments with the ‘CLASS OF 2010’. Paying tribute to the best of the ‘all American teen movies’ CLASS OF 2010 rocks! With a smash soundtrack including the biggest hits from films such as the High School Musicals, Hannah Montana, St Trinian’s, Camp Rock plus hit TV series Glee and much much more! CLASS OF 2010 will take you on a journey that will have you dancing and singing all night.

Art and Crafts Fair

Taking place on the Saturday and Sunday, a wide selection of Arts and Craft exhibitors will be displaying their selection of goods to buy.

Experience Zone

“Ocean Odyssey”
Experience trips on a 54ft Jeanneau sailing yacht based in Gibraltar’s marina.

Motorboat Training
Get a feel for learning how to skipper your own yacht with one of the many RYA Schools in the Marina.

Dolphin Adventure
The Dolphin Adventure will leave from the heart of the Show and give passengers a taste of life on the open water with a higher than average chance of seeing the native dolphin population at play.

Children’s Activity Zone

There will be a special area for children within the Experience Zone, plus the opportunity to get involved in the many sports activities on offer. These will include:

Creative Corner - workshops in cooking art, storytelling, puppet shows, painting and craft for four to six year olds.  Nail painting and temporary transfer tattoos also available.  Saturday and Sunday 10.30am to 11.45am and 12.00pm to 1.15pm.  Contact Lizanne on +34 692 276 056 or Emma on +34 692 461 281 for more information or to book a place.

Football – Gibraltar Football Association Coaching Clinics led by GFA-qualified coaches on the Thursday and Friday 9.30am to 12.00pm and 1pm to 3.30pm.  Contact Richard on 00 350 586 54000 to book a place.

Golf Taster Sessions - maximum ten people per session with qualified instructors on Friday 2pm to 3.30pm and 4pm to 5.30pm plus Sunday 9.30am to 11am. Basketball - Pick your team of three and come to the ‘Experience Zone’ to battle for this year’s title - Thursday nine and ten year olds, Friday 11 to 13 year olds.  Registration 10am to 10.30am.  Competition 11am to 1pm.  Contact Gibraltar Sports Development Unit on 200 76522.

The ASABAM music association, with the help of ACEMCE, The Resident newspaper and various friends of the Municipality invite you to join them in celebrating Andalucía’s annual festival at the Lola's Showbar, in Plaza Ginebra, San Luís de Sabinillas, with the “Amigos de la Música” Choir.
Along with the Himno de Andalucía (Andalucía Anthem) they will perform a varied choral repertoire.

American Halloween - Hollywood style

Everyone joined in the fun as the Estepona/Sotogrande Chapter of The American Club Costa Del Sol enjoyed American Halloween - Hollywood Style. Some 50 Members came in fancy dress as Hollywood Stars of Past & Present.  The venue was filled to capacity by Members & Guests who came from near and far to enjoy welcoming cava, glamorous "Hollywood" company, delicous food, & Alberto's music that kept us dancing through the night.
