The Cruz Roja, the Spanish Red Cross, have reported a number of incidents throughout the Province of individuals fraudulently collecting money allegedly on behalf of the Red Cross, using collecting tins sporting their logo.
It is believed that some of these 'collectors' are part of an organised gang, and that they have been approaching businesses, institutions and private individuals asking for donations.
The Cruz Roja would like to point out that they don't have a policy of continuous collecting and only carry out such collections through their annual 'Flag Day' which involves stands situated in the various municipalities, manned by volunteers, and clearly publicised through the local press.
The Cruz Roja would urge you not to make donations to these individuals that are using their name to defraud the public for their own gain.
