Town Hall workers protest over wage delays

Estepona Town Hall workers protest

Over three hundred of Estepona council's workers marched through the town yesterday to protest at delays in payment of their wages which is causing financial difficulties for many of them.
They marched on the Town Hall where the Mayor, David Valadez, met with the protestors assuring them that they would receive their November wage by the 15th of this month, and that the December and extra Christmas payment would be paid sometime in January 2010.

Estepona Town Council approves reduction in IBI for next year

Estepona Town Council

Estepona's Town Council at a full council meeting held on Tuesday, 10th November, unanimously approved the proposal to reduce the council tax (IBI) for next year, 2010 from 0.85% down to 0.7% of the property's rateable value (Valor Catastral).

The Cruz Roja, the Spanish Red Cross, have reported a number of incidents throughout the Province of individuals fraudulently collecting money allegedly on behalf of the Red Cross, using collecting tins sporting their logo.

Fire in Estepona Nativity Scene

Estepona's nativity scene (Belen), which was situated in the 'bandstand' in the town's Plaza Antonio Guerrero, was destroyed by a fire believed to be the work of vandals, around midnight last Sunday.

Accident simulation on the Estepona to Guadiaro tollroad

The emergency services are conducting an exercise in the Corominas tunnel of the AP-7 toll motorway tomorrow, Thursday 5th November, between 8 and 11 am.
The exercise will involve a simulated traffic accident and fire in the tunnel and will involve various sections of the emergency services including fire, ambulance, police, etc.
There will be traffic restrictions on the 20 km stretch between kilometres 133 and 153 Estepona-Guadiaro during the exercise

 
Two medals for Estepona's International Fencing Club at the Andalucia Championships

American Halloween - Hollywood style

Everyone joined in the fun as the Estepona/Sotogrande Chapter of The American Club Costa Del Sol enjoyed American Halloween - Hollywood Style. Some 50 Members came in fancy dress as Hollywood Stars of Past & Present.  The venue was filled to capacity by Members & Guests who came from near and far to enjoy welcoming cava, glamorous "Hollywood" company, delicous food, & Alberto's music that kept us dancing through the night.
