Saturday, 13th February sees Estepona celebrating Carnival with an extensive programme of events.
12 noon - Children's party at the El Calvario Municipal Park (if the weather is bad all events due to be held in the park will be moved to the Palacio de Congresos). There will be face painting, mask making and drawing workshops for the kids as well as the election of the Carnival Ninfa and Momo. 1 pm - Opening speech by young Esteponero Jose Flores, a regular participant in the local carnival celebrations. 1.30 pm - "La Bacala" organised by the Tipo-Tipo Carnival Association. Visitors can partake of the traditional salt cod fritters, whilst enjoying the entertainment provided by the Estepona chirigota carnival group “Los Que Son Felices, Sin Comer Perdices” along with other local groups. 6 pm - Grand Carnival Parade joining the chirigotas and comparsas will be numerous locals, both individuals and groups, in fancy dress. At the end of the parade there will be the traditional 'Sardine Funeral' at the La Rada beach with the burning of the sardine, fireworks and performances from the Estepona chirigota “Los Que Son Felices, Sin Comer Perdices" on the Paseo Maritimo.
LATEST INFORMATION: Due to the weather forecast, the events due to be staged in the park will now be held at the Palacio de Congresos. |

Other news
Estepona's Foreign Residents Association, AREME, will be holding its annual general meeting on Monday, 26th April at 11 for 11.30 am. The meeting will be held in the Salon de Prensa on the first floor of the Padre Manuel Cultural Centre in Estepona.

Amigos de la Música celebrate Andalucía Day Lola's, Plaza Ginebra, Sabinillas Sunday, February 28th. 2010 at 7:30pm sharp
The ASABAM music association, with the help of ACEMCE, The Resident newspaper and various friends of the Municipality invite you to join them in celebrating Andalucía’s annual festival at the Lola's Showbar, in Plaza Ginebra, San Luís de Sabinillas, with the “Amigos de la Música” Choir. Along with the Himno de Andalucía (Andalucía Anthem) they will perform a varied choral repertoire. Entry is free.

Everyone joined in the fun as the Estepona/Sotogrande Chapter of The American Club Costa Del Sol enjoyed American Halloween - Hollywood Style. Some 50 Members came in fancy dress as Hollywood Stars of Past & Present. The venue was filled to capacity by Members & Guests who came from near and far to enjoy welcoming cava, glamorous "Hollywood" company, delicous food, & Alberto's music that kept us dancing through the night.
