Finca Cortesin in Casares has enjoyed some first class golfing action from sixteen of the world's best golfers, and after two days of group matches the field is now down to the last four. The winners from each of the four groups now go through to Saturday's semi-finals which are played over 36 holes.
In Group A there was a three way tie at 4 points between Anthony Kim, Scott Strange and Retief Goosen with Kim going through to the semis due to a superior number of holes won. In Group B only Robert Allenby and Oliver Wilson had the chance of progressing with neither Sergio Garcia nor Martin Kaymer having the possibility due to earlier losses. The Australian Allenby pipped Wilson to the lead by 5 points to 4. Group C saw Rory McIlroy and Angel Cabrera level on points with Cabrera losing to Henrik Stenson in the morning, but beating Symon Dyson by 7 holes in afternoon giving him a 10-1 hole advantage of McIlroy. Finally, Ross Fisher won Group D despite losing to Westwood by 2 holes in the morning, a win over Milkha Singh in the afternoon and a tie between Westwood and the Colombian Camilo Villegas meant he won the group with 4 points. So, tomorrow sees Anthony Kim face Robert Allenby teeing off at 8.15 and 13.25 hours, and Angel Cabrera play Ross Fisher at 8.30 and 13.40 hours.
